October 28, 2026 – The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) has launched the DTCC Tokenization Service (DTS), allowing eligible securities held at its subsidiary, The Depository Trust Company (DTC), to be represented as tokens on blockchain networks. Taurus is proud to be among the ecosystem collaborators and partners named in DTCC's launch announcement, alongside Broadridge, Ondo, Tradeweb, and other industry participants.
Through direct integration with the DTCC Tokenization Service APIs and nodes, Taurus acts as a wallet provider, giving clients access to the service from their existing Taurus infrastructure.
The launch connects one of the world's largest securities depositories with blockchain-based markets, creating new opportunities to improve liquidity, collateral mobility, and capital efficiency.
Bringing traditional securities to blockchain networks
With more than $114 trillion in assets under custody, DTC plays a central role in global securities markets. Through DTS, eligible users can convert securities entitlements between traditional and tokenized forms and transfer tokenized representations to eligible digital wallets.
These tokens, known as digital twins, retain the ownership rights, investor protections, and economic entitlements of their traditional counterparts.
The implications extend beyond the digital representation of securities. DTS is designed to help institutions mobilize collateral within minutes, access new liquidity pools, and make more efficient use of existing assets, while maintaining established market safeguards.
At launch, 21 DTC Participants have signed agreements to access the service, including Barclays, BNP Paribas, Citibank, Morgan Stanley, State Street, and Vanguard, alongside the institutions mentioned above.
DTS is currently integrated with the Canton Network and DTCC's private Besu network, with additional blockchains planned for 2027. The service was developed with input from more than 150 firms in the DTC Digital Assets Solutions Industry Working Group.
The role of institutional wallet and custody infrastructure
As tokenized securities become more widely used, financial institutions need more than the ability to issue and transfer assets on blockchain networks. They also need secure wallets, reliable custody, asset servicing, and transaction controls that integrate with their existing operations.
That places custody and wallet infrastructure at the center of institutional tokenization.
As an institutional wallet and custody technology provider, Taurus brings experience supporting these requirements. Taurus will provide connectivity to the DTCC Tokenization Service through its integration with the service’s APIs and nodes, enabling it to act as a wallet provider.
Its Taurus-PROTECT platform provides digital asset custody and wallet management, including governance and transaction controls. Taurus-CAPITAL supports tokenization and asset lifecycle management, while Taurus-NETWORK provides interbank settlement and collateral management capabilities.
"The value of tokenization lies in what financial institutions can do with these assets, from mobilizing collateral to managing liquidity more efficiently," said Lamine Brahimi, Co-Founder and Managing Partner at Taurus. "To make that possible, institutions need secure custody, reliable transaction controls, and connectivity with the financial systems they already use. DTCC's launch is an important milestone in bringing traditional securities infrastructure and blockchain networks closer together."
Taurus welcomes the launch as an important development for institutional tokenization and looks forward to continued collaboration across the digital asset ecosystem.
